Exceptional people provide exceptional service and the Chua Dentistry team is truly exceptional. Each team member is dedicated to making each guest feel welcome, cared for and completely satisfied before their next appointment. Our receptionist/business person arrange immediate appointments and answer insurance and financial matters proficiently. The clinical assistants are Dental Assistants with extensive experience in general and cosmetic dental procedures. Our team members are caring, gentle and exceptionally trained for their duties - keeping your beautiful smile healthy.
Meet Dr. Susana Chua
Dr. Susana Chua graduated from the University of the East in 1966. She first practiced in the Philippines, then moved to San Francisco and has been practicing here for over 16 years. Throughout her career, she has continued to improve her craft by taking several continuing education seminars every year. She is a member of several dental associations, such as the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Francisco Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and others. Besides Dr. Susana Chua's extensive experience and caring nature, she is multi-lingual, able to speak Tagalog, Ilocano, Chinese, and Spanish. She's a proud grandmother and enjoys hosting parties when she's not in the office. Her hobbies include cooking, caring for her grandson and travelling internationally.
Dr. Derrick O. Chua
As a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and San Mateo Dental Society, I join other dentists to secure quality care for generations. Participation in these groups, allow me to fulfill my commitment to continuing education and improve my clinical skills aiding my constant evolvement as a dentist. I regularly attend meetings of the Bay Area Aesthetic Masters and annual meetings of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry to improve my skills and be able to offer my patients the best practices for improving their smile. My goal of excelling as a dentist has required me to train with leading experts in dentist-patient relationships, cosmetic dentistry, implants and advanced endodontics. Working with my mother and sister in our family practice has been also proven very fulfilling. I spend countless hours perfecting the art of dentistry and I strive to learn on a daily basis and be the best I can be in my personal life and for my patients.
My wife and child bring further balance to my life. Both my wife and I are avid tennis players. I also enjoy snow skiing and golf. The paramount purpose in my life is being a “great dad.”
Dr. Yvette Chua
Dr. Yvette Chua is a graduate of San Mateo High School, San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Sciences, and Temple University School of Dentistry with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS). Her membership includes: American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), San Mateo Dental Society and Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. She strives to improve her technical skills, interpersonal communication, and interaction. Dr. Chua is excited about what she is doing and is motivated to achieve the highest standards of quality and integrity. She holds advanced certification in Invisalign and Advanced Concepts in Cosmetic Dentistry. She believes patient care should be comprehensive, courteous, and responsive to individual needs and preferences. Our Team is committed to providing you with excellent service that extends beyond your office visit. We will routinely give you information about the office and keep you informed on how to take better personal care of your health and teeth. We will also contact you to see how you are doing and to remind you of upcoming visits.
Lottie
Lottie has been Dr. Susana Chua's head clinical assistant for 17 years. She's happy to provide her expertise in chairside clinical assisting to Dr. Derrick Chua for the past several years. Lottie continually attends clinical assisting educational and technology courses to improve her knowledge and skills in dentistry. With her expertise as a head clinical assistant, she has trained many young dental assisting students in the profession. She is exceptional at helping anxious patients relax for their dental treatment.
Marilyn
Marilyn is our receptionist/business team member that you will probably encounter first either over the phone or email. She experty answers all your important questions you may have about appointments, insurance benefits, financials and other business related matters. Marilyn is in charge of scheduling convenient appointments for you, even late nights or on Saturdays. She is trained in helping you understand your complicated insurance benefits easily. She is friendly and truely cares for your welfare. Marilyn is exceptional at planning and reminding you for your dental appointments to maximize your insurance benefits.
